Ok, I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t generally post on this little ol’ blog until the hockey season starts up. Unless something major occurs during the off season…which by the way I have not posted my photos and adventures from the Blackhawks Convention..I will, I promise. ANYWAY, today was my birthday, 24, no big thing. And I had to work—for those of you who don’t know I’m a middle school secretary—and today happened to be orientation for all of the kids. AKA, I had crabby rich mom’s yelling at me all day. I didn’t sit down at my desk once and must have burned a ton of calories just running around the entire school. I’ll simplify it…today flat out sucked balls, it was a shitty day, and served as a reminder of how badly I want out of my job but can’t because it comes with a pretty paid 2 week Christmas vacation and full benefits. Anyway, I stayed late at work today and was running oh… about an hour late to my own family dinner. I had to stop at my apartment to change because I was still dawning my Middle school staff sweaty t-shirt. There was a lovely note on my door from my roommate that read:
"I know I promised I’d help you meet Jonathan Toews for your birthday this year, but he won’t return my phone calls. I hope this will suffice."
Upon opening my door, my eyes feasted on black, white, and red streamers, Blackhawks balloons, and an adorable Build-a-Bear Dog in a full Blackhawks jersey whose name is JT and there’s a little certificate that says he belongs to me! I couldn’t help myself…I broke down and cried like a baby…in my doorway…alone in my apartment because someone was sweet enough to pay attention to my interests…something so shocking to me after such a shitty day with ungrateful asshole parents. My roommate is amazing and got to hear my blubbering thank you via phone conversation. Her awesomeness needs to be shared with the world, at least the world of Tumblr.
